Einstein Jefferson Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Full-Time Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing cardiac surgery program. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to deliver advanced cardiac surgical services to an underserved population while working alongside a collaborative team of surgeons and APPs. Our service is uniquely APP-driven and offers excellent professional support along with lifestyle flexibility.
This position is primarily night shift with occasional day shift coverage as needed.
Role Overview
The APP will play a key role in the management and implementation of comprehensive care plans for cardiac surgical patients, as defined by the attending surgeons. Responsibilities include:
Providing inpatient care for pre- and post-operative cardiac surgery patients in the CCU and Telemetry Unit.
Performing and assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic bedside procedures.
Ensuring accurate and timely communication of clinical information among physicians, nurses, and other care team members.
Maintaining collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Management
Perform comprehensive histories and physicals with thorough documentation in the medical record.
Order, interpret, and analyze diagnostic data; perform appropriate diagnostic procedures when indicated.
Serve as first responder for patient status changes, orders, and urgent procedural or resuscitative needs.
Identify and manage risks associated with acute and complex chronic illness, including medication safety, nutrition, mobility, electrolyte balance, and invasive procedures.
Diagnosis
Collaborate with the healthcare team in diagnosing acute and chronic conditions.
Manage diagnostic testing, interpretation, and follow-up care.
Prioritize and formulate differential diagnoses.
Diagnose complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
Plan of Care
Develop and implement individualized care plans based on evidence-based guidelines.
Identify expected outcomes, adjust plans as necessary, and prescribe appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Perform advanced procedures within scope of practice and validated competencies.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain open communication with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families to ensure continuity across the care continuum.
Provide clear, timely, and concise documentation of patient care, including histories, daily progress notes, procedures, acute events, transfers, and discharge summaries.
Professional Practice
Participate in mentoring, precepting, and educating graduate students.
Engage in research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Actively attend Advanced Practice Grand Rounds and specialty-specific meetings.
Maintain CEUs and professional memberships in relevant organizations.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant Studies.
National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Current BLS certification.
