Description
A privately operated multi-site health clinic is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to serve as the primary clinical provider at the onsite clinic site in the West Alexander, PA area. The clinics exclusively serve employees and dependents of Alliance Coal and are designed to deliver accessible, high-quality primary and occupational health services in a remote setting.

The successful applicant must live within a reasonable commuting distance of West Alexander, PA area. (Location is approximately 17 miles east of Wheeling, WV and 45 miles south of Pittsburg, PA.)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary, acute, urgent, and occupational health care to covered employees across two clinic sites
- Perform and interpret diagnostic studies including phlebotomy/venipuncture and 12-lead EKG recording
- Manage chronic disease conditions including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and musculoskeletal disorders common in an industrial workforce
- Conduct occupational health evaluations, including fitness-for-duty assessments as applicable
- Conduct annual wellness visits and preventive health screenings
- Promote health education, lifestyle modification, and disease prevention initiatives
- Support employer wellness and population health programs designed to improve workforce health outcomes
- Perform minor procedures; suturing skills strongly preferred for this setting
- Provide telemedicine cross-coverage for other clinic sites as needed
- Coordinate referrals and specialist care in collaboration with physician support
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and employer health regulations
- Communicate effectively with Clinic leadership, employer HR contacts, and back-office staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and reporting as directed by Clinic management.
Requirements
Required – All Applicants
- Current, unrestricted APRN or PA license in Pennsylvania.
- Active licensure is required at hire; multi-state (Compact) licensure may be required within 90 days of employment
- Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority
- Demonstrated ability to practice independently with minimal direct supervision
- Competency in phlebotomy and 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation
- Ability to connect effectively with an industrial workforce, establishing trust and rapport in a setting where patients may be reluctant healthcare consumers
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Reliable transportation; ability to travel to clinic site in a remote area
Required – Nurse Practitioner
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care APRN (AGPCNP)
Required – Physician Assistant
- Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Preferred – All Applicants
- Suturing and minor wound management experience
- Occupational health or industrial medicine experience
- DOT Medical Examiner certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare settings
Work Environment
This position is based in a remote area of Southwestern PA, serving an industrial/coal mining workforce. Clinic sites are onsite at or near active coal company operations. The APRN or PA will function as the primary clinical staff member at the site and must be comfortable managing a broad scope of presentations independently while leveraging physician and back-office support infrastructure.

- Ability to travel between clinic locations
Patient volumes are intentionally structured to allow for comprehensive visits (both scheduled and walk-in), proactive outreach, preventive care initiatives, occupational health activities, care coordination, and telemedicine support across the clinic network.
